Namaste!

I am officially addicted to yoga.  I've been going for about four months now and I literally do NOT like missing my weekly yoga classes.  It has become a high priority and my body actually misses it when I miss my regular classes.  I love yoga so much that I've been thinking of ways to incorporate it into my work routine and guess what, there are ways to enjoy yoga at work! So passing on some of the things I've found!

There are so many cool ways you can incorporate yoga at work as seen above here.  These websites here and here also give some examples.  Whose with me?! Who will add at least one stretch or posture at their desk with me?  (although, you may want to close your door before trying some of these!)

Speaking of postures.  I am dreaming of the day when I have enough yoga strength to master these babies!

how cool do these look?!! my upper body strength is getting better and better with each passing week.  So, in about, hmmmm...5 years I should be able to do this!

In the meantime, let's keep it simple with some yoga at the desk!!

whose with me?,

Snack Pack For Little Jack!

If you're anything like me, you need a good snack to make it through the work day!  10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. are my peak snack hours.  Anywho, my typical snacks include cheez-its, crackers, snickers, kit kats, and reese's peanut butter cups.  Yeah, I know, the anti-healthy!  So, I've made it my bizness to turn over a new leaf--healthy, yet yummy, work snacks.  I started today and thought I'd share my top 3 finds.

I'll report back on how they taste next week!  What are your favorite healthy (BUT YUMMY) work snacks? Do share! None of the nasty stuff, no matter how healthy it is! So, share healthy yummies please!

Turning over a new snack leaf,
SG

p.s. in case you didn't catch the "Meet the Fockers" reference in the title, I highly suggest renting the movie this weekend! **smile**

Let Me See Ya' Work It Out!

Calling all ladies who have busy schedules & want to stay in shape.  I have a recommendation for you--Jillian MIchael's 30 Day Shred.  This exercise DVD is convenient, tough, and really brings about results!  In 20 minutes you get a warm up, 3 circuits of exercise, and a cool down.  Now, please don't be fooled by 20 minutes--it is 20 minuets of non-stop terror/movement!

The Setup:
The DVD comes with 3 Exercise Levels (I'm currently on Level 2).  Each 20 minute Level has 3 circuits each of which consist of 3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, and 1 minute abs.  You will need hand weights (I'd recommend 2-3 pounds) and I use a jump rope for the air jump ropes.  Jillian has 2 assistants working out with her--one doing beginner moves and the other doing the advanced techniques.

What I Really Like About the DVD/Workout:
  • 20 minutes!  Very manageable with my schedule
  • 20 FULL minutes--I am moving the entire time, sweating, panting, screaming, etc...
  • the increased levels of difficulty
  • the toning results & how fast they show!  In particular arms, abs, & legs.
  • every body part is worked on by the end of the workout
Jillian is no joke so let me put that out there! Level 2 is pretty brutal, but each day I "punk out" less than the day before.  Troy also "motivates" me by saying "Don't quit!!" "go lower!!" "don't do those girl push ups!" (LOL!) from time to time!  Here's a compilation clip courtesy of youtube for your reviewing pleasure! :-)

If you purchase the DVD please let me know your thoughts and how you progress! This really is great for a pre or post-work workout for us busy women who have demanding jobs/activities, husbands to feed, or children to tend to, etc...

Kicking & Screaming...& Exercising along the way,

Reply by clicking on COMMENTS and then scroll down to leave a comment. Thanks!

December's question comes from another blog.  When I read the question, I actually had to pause for a minute to think this one through.  I'm quite interested to hear your thoughts.  Here goes the question:

Would you rather be in the best fiscal or best physical shape
(health included) of your life right now and why?

Looking forward to hearing your answers!

Thankful that Widsom Doesn't Reside In My Teeth!

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
James 3:17

Bye bye wisdom....teeth!  After yesterday I no longer house any wisdom teeth in my mouth!  Having had the top two taken out in undergrad, today I had the bottom two extracted.  Unlike my first go round, this time I had to visit Mr. Oral Surgeon!  I am happy to report that the Lord Jesus was with me all the way!  I was comforted by His peace and had a praise in my heart during my moments of consciousness (I'd like to think during my moments of unconsciousness as well!). :-)

I am still amazed how I cannot recall not a thing that happened during the procedure.  I was told it lasted about 30-45 minutes, but all I know is a nurse told me "You'll feel better in about one minute" and that's the last thing I recall.  Next memory--people wiping my mouth and the IV coming out.  How amazing is our God, He kept me through it all!!

Waiting for Dr. to Come In

Now I'm home and can't complain about a thing!  My soul is rejoicing and I'm just so joyful and grateful for the mercies and promises of Jesus Christ!  Here are a few of my survival foods for the weekend.  Let's hope that I can eat normal food sooner than later! Soup is for the birds when it's not accompanied with something that I can chew! But the baked potato and ice cream diet has been pretty yum!!

Clay pack that doesn't freeze/burn my face!

I'm being very well taken care of by my mommy and hubby!  And I've had many check-ins from my fabulous friends (thanks for the ice cream & card Charity!!)!  So, while I'm now without my wisdom teeth, I'm still rich in love, friends, and the ability to gain more wisdom!!  Sounds like a win/win situation to me! :-)

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:
and with all thy getting get understanding.

The Randomness Continues...

My visit to the dentist last week resulted in a lovely surprise--a new toothbrush find!! I think the only good thing about going to get your teeth cleaned is the free baggie you get afterwards (with the toothbrush, travel size toothpaste, & mouth wash)!!  Anywho, the extra soft Colgate 360 toothbrush is pretty great!  It has this thingamabobber on the back that brushes your cheek while you brush your teeth (lil' weird at first, but then it's pretty cool!).  I've named my toothbrush Susie and she's been doing a fine job!  I'd definitely give it 2 thumbs up.

So, next time you're in the toothbrush aisle, consider giving Susie's family a try! And let me know if you like it!

Saying cheese,
SG

**And don't forget to purchase a new toothbrush every 3 months!**
